COURSES

PT1 628 Church Finance & Administration (3 cr.)
This course prepares ministers and church officers for leadership and employment in the modern-day church. Students are challenged with academic and practical training in church administration, including employment, finances, organizational models, staffing structures, and other key elements of church business. Additionally, training is provided on how to best use and implement the administration tools and resources provided as a part of this course.

PT1 610 Church and Community (3 cr.)
This course explores the dynamic relationship between the church and the communities it serves, with particular attention to the church as an agent of spiritual formation, social transformation, and economic development. Grounded in biblical theology and informed by historical and contemporary models of ministry, students will examine how congregations can engage their local contexts to address systemic challenges while fostering holistic well-being.

PT1 649 Management for Ministry (3 cr.)
Designed to explore in detail a wide range of management theories and practices affecting the church and its ministries. The course is divided into six major areas: Management and Organizational Theory in the Church; Administration and Strategic Planning; Leadership Development; Stewardship and Financial Resource Development; Congregational Studies and Church Growth; and Social Ministry and Community Development. Students will come to understand and appreciate the complexity of the church as an organization and will learn some of the skills and techniques needed to improve both the effectiveness of the church and the effectiveness of church leadership.

ECON 5102 Economics for Managers (3cr)
Managerial economics deals with applying economic concepts, theories, tools, and methodologies to solve practical problems in a business. It aids the manager in decision-making and serves as a bridge between practice and theory.

FINC 5103 Financial Management (3cr)
: Financial Management focuses on ratios, equity, and debt. It also refers to efficiently and effectively managing money (funds) to accomplish the organization's objectives. It is a specialized function directly associated with top management.
